Jena fiasco

It's obviously been a long time since I've posted. I've had so much dramatic change happen in my life this year that I started this blog and never kept up. Ehhh... who knows, liable to be a while before I write again.

A while back we here in Paris had some problems over some silly little high school girl named Shukwanda Cotton (I bet I misspelled her name. Can't have a normal name like "Sue" or "Karen" now can we?)
Anyway, she got herself into trouble. Quiet sometime later, somehow or another, she managed to get national attention. We had all kinds idiots from the New Black Panthers, NAACP, and even that big, fat dolt Al Sharpton snooping around town raising all kindsa hell and telling us how bad are town is.

I gotta tell ya, it really pisses me off when someone comes along that doesn't know me and decides they need to tell me what to do with my life. I'm more of the mind, "If I want to know what you think, I'll ask." Same difference for the town as a whole. It's not appreciated for a buncha outsiders to just show up and tell ya how bad they think your town sucks.

But heck, seeings how the world over always seems to know what's right for someone else, I figured I'd go ahead and toss in my two cents concerning the town of Jena, LA. Actually, my perspective isn't so much on the town nor it's people. I couldn't care less if they take turns pounding each other's skulls into the pavement or hanging each other from "the old oak tree." Ok, well, I would disapprove of them being so violent. But still, that'd be their problem. I've got my own.

To try and catch up on the story I read the Jena Times. (By the way, that seems to be pronounced "Jee-nuh.") You too can read the chronology of events here. Anyhow, according to the local newspaper, there really wasn't much in the way of "racial tensions" throughout town. The whole "noose incident" was was handled and everyone went back to life as usual.... sorta.

I'm not gonna repeat what you've prolly already read and heard about. I do encourage you to read the chronology. It appears to me that the true provocateur of bedlam has been none other than the media!
Yesss, yes, our good friends with the pens and the cameras always looking for a juicy story to tell. We all know that they feast on mayhem, death, destruction, and scandals. Much like Jameson from Spiderman. Ya know how he always says things like, "No one wants to read about a buncha do-gooders! People wanna read about villians....badguys! And that's what I'll given em. Spiderman... the villian!



Don't misunderstand me, people who assault other people have to face the music. Which makes me wonder why so many people are flocking to "support the Jena six." Why? Why do people want to rush to support and excuse a group of kids who have performed a heinous act of violence? What are you hoping to accomplish? Are you wanting these kids to see the world as, "I can pummel someone for no good reason and the world will excuse it?" Why are so many people flocking to scream "We want peace" while supporting violent behavior? I mean heck, everyone threw a big fit when that football player, Haynesworth wasn't it, stomped on another guys head. Why can a group of guys get together to stomp on another guy and it should be ok?

But that's not what I'm here for. I'm here to point a finger at the media.

Many times it is noted that things appeared to be fine around town. However; after more and more media coverage is when racial tensions peaked. Now remember, to have a good story there has to be something to report. Annnnd if there isn't something to report, hell make it happen.

Get everyone all worked up into a frenzy and they'll take care of the rest. After all, when a reporter comes around people turn into attention whores anyway.

It's the same kinda b.s. we had here in Paris and it sounds to me to be a lot like what's happening in Jena.

After I had written the previous post concerning the use of terms another thought came to mind about "terminology." The people that enter into the United States (or any other country, for that matter) without permission have violated an immigration law. Therefore; they have committed a crime. Perhaps not a heinous crime, but a crime nonetheless. If someone steals, they are called a thief. If they murder, they're a murderer. Someone who rapes is a rapist. Someone who enters a country illegally is known as an "illegal immigrant" or "illegal resident." (Probably depends on if their intent is immigration or short duration. Still illegal tho.)

If you enter the United States of America (or better yet, Texas) illegally, you are an illegal immigrant. We aint callin ya that to hurt yer feelins. You just are what ya are. Stop whining. If the shoe fits, hombre....beat it. If you have a problem with being called "illegal," there is a simple way to avoid that, Go through the channels, NOT the river!

The other side, the liberal fruitcakes, want to re-word the terminology. They do everything that doesn't suit them. The US Constitution, the science book, geez, they even came up with "new math" or "Core Plus" or whatever kinda bogus math course because "change" is what they are all about.

They say illegal residents are not "illegal," they are "undocumented." That implies they intend to become documented. I can tell you that for the most part, people who come here illegally do not want to become "legal" because if they did then they are required to report to the government, be identified, pay taxes, etc. How many of us are concerned about identity theft? Illegals aren't. As far as identity theives go, they don't have an identity. Actually, many illegals are identity thieves. "An illegal immigrant may use your social security number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB) for employment purposes or to obtain a birth certificate." Illegal immigrants may not want to become legalized because as long as they are not, if they have broken the law and get caught, they are simply sent home only to come back again. That is assuming they get sent home. Sometimes it takes a killin to get that to happen. Even more, right now there are so many perks to being here illegally, I don't blame them, I wouldn't legalize either.

But come on, to say, "They are only undocumented" is like saying "I'm just borrowing your car without your permission for an undetermined amount of time."

One of my favorite radio shows is The Glenn Beck Program. He does comedy bits from his made up sponser, "Glennheiser Beck, United States of America." He did this one called "Mr. Illegal Border Crosser."



Ufortunately it's text. The audio versions are better. You hafta become an insider to hear em tho.




Ah, and another quote I've heard that I'm sure the Latin gangs are probably proud of, "Look at all the men that died to steal Texas from Mexico. We're taking back the land that's rightfully ours without ever firing a shot."

Terms

 

Illegal aliens... what more can be said? The very term itself starts out with "Illegal." That should be enough, right?

It's kinda like saying "Drug Free Zone." Stupid. Everywhere is, by law, a drug free zone. Why does a certain area mean more trouble? That's kinda like saying someone is more dead than usual aint it? "He's got drugs on him! Buddy, yer lucky. Another three feet and you'da been in REAL hot water!"

Here's some other terms, depending on how you use them, gives them a different meaning. One term is legal... the other term is illegal or questionable.

Stakeout...Stalking
cussin someone you're mad at....verbal assault
restraining unruly suspect....police brutality
investigating....invasion of privacy (spying)
fund raising (or taxing)....extortion
protesting.... rioting
undercover....impersonating
sting operation....entrapment
sharing information....piracy
pharmacist....drug dealer (licensed or unlicensed)
exercise 1st Amendment....using "God" in public
automobile collector..... auto thief
exercising 2nd Amendment.... owning firearms (depends on how many or what kind you have)
borrowing without consent....stealing

Fair for All

Recently my son was watching Dora the Explorer and I picked up on a little something that really concerned me. It brought to mind some of the great things I've heard about in the news. Some schools have outlawed games like dodgeball, warball, or even tag because the object of the game is to disenfranchise other children from the game ultimately causing harmed feelings to the outcast children. Said children then develop self-esteem issues which reflect low expectations of themselves. With that, some children begin to disassociate themselves from other children, others may begin to act out rudely, sometimes violently. Still yet, some turn to alternate behavior such as dark clothing and make-up giving off an air of death and despair which outright says this person is having deep-seated issues and are crying for help.

Dora displayed an anti-social, disenfranchising scene which is completely offensive. We should all call on Nick, Jr. to revamp Dora or scrap the show altogether. The scene I'm talking about showed lil Dora and her friend in a toy store wanting to buy a blue ball. First off, a blue ball? What filth! Anyway, they had 7 coins. The ball cost 12 coins. The children were hurt and had to scrape together the remaining coins.

It becomes evident that lack of money causes disenfranchisement. We should ban money and prices altogether. It offends me and hurts my feelings that I can not afford a 120 inch wall-mount television. I feel disenfranchised from people who have a lot of money. I want be more like them or them to be more like me. That way, we can call life fair. My mom always taught me that life was fair (not really.) Those people are trying to make my momma out to be a liar.
