After I had written the previous post concerning the use of terms another thought came to mind about "terminology." The people that enter into the United States (or any other country, for that matter) without permission have violated an immigration law. Therefore; they have committed a crime. Perhaps not a heinous crime, but a crime nonetheless. If someone steals, they are called a thief. If they murder, they're a murderer. Someone who rapes is a rapist. Someone who enters a country illegally is known as an "illegal immigrant" or "illegal resident." (Probably depends on if their intent is immigration or short duration. Still illegal tho.)
If you enter the United States of America (or better yet, Texas) illegally, you are an illegal immigrant. We aint callin ya that to hurt yer feelins. You just are what ya are. Stop whining. If the shoe fits, hombre....beat it. If you have a problem with being called "illegal," there is a simple way to avoid that, Go through the channels, NOT the river!
The other side, the liberal fruitcakes, want to re-word the terminology. They do everything that doesn't suit them. The US Constitution, the science book, geez, they even came up with "new math" or "Core Plus" or whatever kinda bogus math course because "change" is what they are all about.
They say illegal residents are not "illegal," they are "undocumented." That implies they intend to become documented. I can tell you that for the most part, people who come here illegally do not want to become "legal" because if they did then they are required to report to the government, be identified, pay taxes, etc. How many of us are concerned about identity theft? Illegals aren't. As far as identity theives go, they don't have an identity. Actually, many illegals are identity thieves. "An illegal immigrant may use your social security number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB) for employment purposes or to obtain a birth certificate." Illegal immigrants may not want to become legalized because as long as they are not, if they have broken the law and get caught, they are simply sent home only to come back again. That is assuming they get sent home. Sometimes it takes a killin to get that to happen. Even more, right now there are so many perks to being here illegally, I don't blame them, I wouldn't legalize either.
But come on, to say, "They are only undocumented" is like saying "I'm just borrowing your car without your permission for an undetermined amount of time."
One of my favorite radio shows is The Glenn Beck Program. He does comedy bits from his made up sponser, "Glennheiser Beck, United States of America." He did this one called "Mr. Illegal Border Crosser."
Ufortunately it's text. The audio versions are better. You hafta become an insider to hear em tho.
Ah, and another quote I've heard that I'm sure the Latin gangs are probably proud of, "Look at all the men that died to steal Texas from Mexico. We're taking back the land that's rightfully ours without ever firing a shot."
